Brief Biography
Dr. Sheba Lo is a Professor in the Department of Africana Studies. Her research interests are West African, South African, and African American literature (oral, written, and film), including hip hop. She is particularly interested in the way in which artists act as agents of social change throughout the Africa world. Dr. Lo believes that exposing our students to the way in which cultural expression is utilized to mobilize people and communities around the world inspires greatness in our students. Dr. Lo is also interested in Black family sustainability with a particular emphasis on Black women and children, and African-centered education.
