Professor
Faculty - Philosophy
Brief Biography
I grew up in Dayton, Ohio under the loving care of two Europeans, Nicolas (Greek) and Ida (Irish) Gressis. I went to college at the University of Dayton (1994-1998), then spent a year in Marburg, Germany as a Fulbright Fellow (1998-1999). After that, I enrolled in the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor's philosophy Ph.D. program, receiving my Ph.D. in 2007. I then got a post-doc at the University of Notre Dame's Center for Philosophy of Religion, and finally ended up at CSUN in 2008, where I've been ever since.
Non-academically, I enjoy following the Cincinnati Bengals, reading about pedagogy, and writing comedic travel memoirs. You can buy my first memoir, _The Most Awkward Man in Japan_, on Amazon, at this URL: https://a.co/d/8uUpENv.
Right now, my research concerns metaphilosophy, in particular the question, "what is a contribution to philosophy?"
