Brief Biography
Maurice has been acting in theatre, film and television for over forty years. His theatre work spans modern, classical and musical plays. His film and television work includes over a hundred productions both internationally and in Hollywood. He has appeared as series regular, recurring and guest star on dozens of television programs and he has accumulated an impressive array of character portrayals on film.
Maurice was born in Toronto, Canada where he received four years of classical conservatory training at Ryerson Theatre School. He completed an apprenticeship at the Shaw Festival and continued his actor training in Canada with international teachers and coaches at the Stratford Shakespearian Festival. At Stratford he had the privilege of working with some of the foremost international stage directors and received plaudits, nominations and awards for his portrayal of many characters; notably Arturo Ui, in The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui and Edmond in King Lear. His theatre career has taken him across Canada where he has starred in the major theatres of almost every province. While in the United States he has appeared in plays both on the west coast and on Broadway.
He continues to act, direct and teach both in Canada and the United States.
