I am a Professor and Graduate Studies Coordinator in the Department of Political Science at California State University, Northridge. I study American politics with an emphasis on Latina/o politics, racial and ethnic politics, and immigration.

I teach general education courses in American politics and racial and ethnic politics as well as upper division courses in American politics, Latina/o politics, political behavior, and elections.

My research, which can be found in academic journals and mainstream presses, addresses questions surrounding Latino identity, political opinion, and political behavior. It also examines the political influence of corporations, such as the private prison industry, on immigration legislation in Congress across time. This line of research identifies the political tools corporations use to sway members of Congress and tests whether they significantly influence member's behavior towards legislation beneficial to corporate interests.

Please also feel free to visit my personal website, which can be found on my home page.
