Francisco Beltran Silva

Brief Biography
I am a micro applied economist, I take statistical tools out into the world and apply them to interesting questions of individual behavior and societal outcomes. My research agenda focuses mainly on how public policies affect different health related outcomes. I obtained my PhD in Economics at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, where I lived for over five years.
My interest in economics is strongly influenced by my experience in the Ministry of Finance in Mexico, where I worked assessing the impact of fiscal policies. Before that, I worked doing risk analysis at Evercore Partners Mexico, a major investment bank.
As an instructor, my approach prioritizes on teaching economics as a powerful tool to solve different problems while preparing students to be successful in their future careers. On a personal level, I was born in Mexico City. I enjoy urban cycling and beach volleyball. I also like playing piano, guitar, and ukulele.
