Brief Biography
Flavia Fleischer is currently the Deaf Studies Department Chair at California State University, Northridge. Her Ph.D. in Linguistics is from Gallaudet University and her dissertation centered on analysis of American society’s constructed image of deaf people. Flavia also holds two MA degrees – one in Interdisciplinary Studies in Deaf Education, Deaf Studies and Linguistics from California State University, Northridge, and one in American Sign Language Linguistics from Gallaudet University. In her free time, Flavia enjoys weight lifting, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, and running.
