Dr. Deniz Marti is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Manufacturing Systems Engineering & Management at California State University, Northridge. Dr. Marti brings an interdisciplinary background including systems engineering, human-AI interaction, and immersive technologies to her teaching and research.
She earned her Ph.D. in Engineering Management and Systems Engineering from The George Washington University. Following her doctorate, Dr. Marti completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University’s John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and a second fellowship at the University of Southern California’s Institute for Creative Technologies.
Her research lies at the intersection of human-AI teaming, virtual and mixed reality, decision-making, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
At CSUN, Dr. Marti teaches courses in innovation, entrepreneurship, engineering leadership, and applied statistics. Her pedagogy emphasizes project-based learning, peer-instruction, AI-assisted critical thinking, and problem-solving that prepare students for emerging careers in engineering and technology.
She is deeply committed to mentoring and empowering students to become thoughtful, creative, and ethical engineers equipped to lead in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
