Brief Biography
Mr. Newman has taught several different Business Law courses at CSUN since 2013. In addition to his teaching, he has a full-time legal practice. He currently serves as Of Counsel at The Internet Law Group, a boutique law firm in Los Angeles. His practice covers a broad range of state and federal litigation involving complex commercial transactions, fraud, defamation, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, unfair competition, and employment. He has handled several jury and non-jury trials, and has submitted appeals to the California Courts of Appeal and Supreme Court, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He also serves as outside general counsel for a variety of businesses in Southern California. In this capacity, he regularly advises clients on issues relating to contracts, licenses, intellectual property, privacy, and regulatory compliance. He has written numerous articles concerning areas of law that he specializes in, including the cover article “Out of the Courts” for Los Angeles Lawyer magazine. Prior to joining The Internet Law Group, he worked at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and Anglin, Flewelling, Rasmussen, Campbell, & Trytten LLP. He graduated cum laude from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy. He earned his law degree from USC Law School where he served on the Southern California Law Review.
